About this site
Who's Doing What is a Web site with several goals:
- to keep organizations informed of what projects or initiatives their peers are involved with
- to improve the awareness of the local community of the vast efforts being undertaken by these groups
- to provide organizations with a means of showcasing their own projects, and to provide a way to integrate that into their own Web sites
In doing so, we hope to accomplish the following greater objectives:
- to encourage communication between organizations
- to encourage the sharing of results and resources
- to reduce duplication of efforts
- to allow areas and topics that are under-studied to be highlighted and addressed
To accomplish this, we've put together an interactive Web site that allows organizations to create and manage their own profiles, including a profile of their organization, as well as profiles for each of the projects or programs they are undertaking. The site features interactive mapping that allows one to define an area-of-interest for each project, and allows visitors to search through organizations and projects based on a geographic location—basically a "who's doing what, where?" search.
As well, the site has been developed so that it can be configured through the URL, so that an organization can place a special link on their own Web site that opens Who's Doing What to show a particular set of organizations or projects. For more information on this topic, see "Notes for Web Masters" under the Help index.
The Web site was developed by the Eastern Ontario Model Forest, in partnership with the Grenville Land Stewardship Council and Ontario Stewardship. Funding for the project was provided through the Ontario Stewardship Opportunity Fund.
